For most of us, the springtime is greeted with joy, knowing that the harsh weather is over and we can look forward to the long summer months ahead. Unfortunately though, for some people, the late spring and the early summer months are a time of misery due to hay fever.
What is hay fever?
Hay fever is a common allergic reaction to pollen that affects up to one in five people at some point in their life.
A person can have an allergy to:
- tree pollen, released during spring
- grass pollen, released during the end of spring and beginning of summer
- weed pollen, released late autumn
What are the symptoms?
The symptoms of hay fever include:
- frequent sneezing
- runny or blocked nose
- itchy, red or watery eyes (allergic conjunctivitis)
- an itchy throat, mouth, nose and ears
- cough, caused by mucus dripping down the throat from the back of the nose
How can artificial grass help hay fever sufferers?
Artificial grass does not require mowing, nor does it contain the pollen that causes hay fever symptoms. This can help to make sitting in the garden during the summer a far more pleasant experience for Hay fever suffers.
Another advantage of artificial grass, because it is made of plastic, it is less likely to harbour insects and reduces the need to use harmful pesticides, which can also cause allergic reactions.
If you would like to sit out in the garden this summer without suffering the effects of grass pollen then why not look at replacing your lawn with artificial grass? At AGD, we have a wide range of artificial grass to suit all budgets and deliver anywhere in the UK.
